I’ve been in business for close to 20 years  - for a few years (5 to be more exact ) I even super successfully managed a Chinese-Hungarian export-import/wholesale joint venture.  I transitioned into the world of solo-profesionals as a speaker & performance consultant in July of 2003…

SELLING WITHOUT SELLING

The hardest part of being a solo-professional, compared to owning a larger company with employees, is that I have to get the clients myself.  And even though I spent so many years in business, I don’t always feel comfortable about direct sales…  So during the years I developed – I mean, I learned to sell more without actually doing it the traditional way as one would imagine a sales transaction.

Cold calling or setting up appointments for the sake of selling my services are one of the hardest tasks for me – though, reluctantly, I do visit businesses and try to sell directly to them…  I did find that when a person meets me face to face, they hear the passion in my voice for what I propose, and that (my passion and “charisma”) is often my best sales tool.

Of course, getting your foot in the door is the hardest part; and it helps if once you meet your prospect, you are not viewed as a total stranger, but the person has either heard about you or has seen your presentation(s), online videos, read your articles, etc.
